Capture those special moments

There is nothing more special than watching your little ones grow up, but what if you could capture some of those beautiful and memorable moments in a creative and artistic way? I have collected just a couple of gorgeous little ideas that I have come across that I would like to share with you:

Milestones

I love creative photography and since having my own child I can attest to having the camera in his face all the time but… I am not particularly gifted when it comes to photography so I’m thinking about using some of these ideas below used to capture the most important milestones!

Gorgeous idea to keep track of all those tiny but very special little developments.

What an awesome way to capture such a special event like the first day of school - I love that they have asked him what he wants to be when he grows up; that will be so much fun to look back on as he grows up to see how its changed.

Photo book

I’m a big fan of photo books; my friends and I have always made them as gifts for birthday’s, holidays, going away gifts etc and now with a son, I am excited to make a book that tracks his developments. I found this gorgeous little idea on the snapfish website.

Take photos of your child's art work and add a few pictures of them too in the process and ask them to describe their work. Their imaginative quotes will make this book even more special.

If you have any fabulous ideas that you have seen or used yourself, I would love to hear about them – please leave me a comment 🙂 Thanks

My family have always been very big into photos and videos and that’s clearly where I have gotten my love of the camera from. For my 21st my mum put together snippets of all the videos she had taken of me since I was born and gave it to me as one DVD. It’s so special and I cherish it so much! I’m now 31 and have been viewing it these school holidays….. It’s been wonderful to look back over my life and see some of the people who are now no longer with me…. I couldn’t think of a better gift xx

Thanks Lisa, that’s a beautiful idea. It sounds really special. Well done to your mum for putting that together, it sounds magical.

I like to do a theme, 4-9 photos around a subject. It looks great framed on a wall and often gets comments from visitors.

The more abstract the theme and the less obvious connection between the photos in the series the better!

Also make sure to vary your photos: close-ups, macros, far away, action, scenic, different depths of field.

Thanks David, that sounds great and I’m sure you would have a lot of fun creating them too.
