Warm Berry Bliss

As the seasons change, so too do the fruit and vegetables available at the growers market. I really enjoy sticking to local seasonal produce throughout the year and getting creative with the dishes that I create for my friends and family.

I think winter is a really fun time of year to create delicious and heart warming meals that leave you feeling cozy and content without leaving you feeling heavy and lethargic.

Last night, we had one of our friends over for dinner and had a delicious meal of grilled fish and salad after which we put together an amazing and essentially guilt free dessert, which I just had to share with you.


 DESSERT: Warm Berry Bliss

  • 1 packet of frozen mixed berries
  • 1 ½ bananas (sliced)
  • 100g of organic raw cacao butter
  • 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon of good quality fresh double cream per serve
  • 100g of rich dark chocolate (minimum 70% cocoa)


To make: Empty one packed of mixed berries into a frying pan over a low heat. Mix continuously until the juices are released and start to bubble. Add 100g of shaved cacao butter into the berries and mix. Add the banana and the vanilla extract and remove from the heat after a minute or two.


Melt the chocolate down in a bain-marie to avoid burning and continue to mix until chocolate is completely melted.


Add the berry mixture into your bowl or glass and top with one teaspoon of double cream and a drizzle of melted chocolate and a mint leaf before serving.


NOTE: If you are lactose intolerant or steering clear of dairy you can remove the cream and even the chocolate if you want to as it’s just as good without them. Instead,  you may want to add a little cinnamon and maybe some raw figs if they are in season.
