Wholefood Supplements

I had a friend ask me this week what supplements I use and it sparked a long conversation about whole food supplements and why I use them over synthetic man-made supplements.

Essentially, not all nutritional supplements enhance health, especially if they are stuffed up with “filler” ingredients like artificial colours, flavours and preservatives.

Helayne Waldan wrote an article for Sayer Ji’s Greenmed info blog and she said

“The old adage is as true for supplements as it is for most things:  you get what you pay for.  Buy a cheap supplement, and you are buying cheap ingredients – poorly absorbable forms of nutrients, ingredients that have not been tested for purity and potency, and lots of extra substances that are not nutrients at all.”

What you need is a nutrient that’s in a form as close to the way nature made it as possible. The simple truth is that Synthetic products are much cheaper and have a longer shelf life than natural substances and that’s exactly why we don’t want them. In most cases your body can’t absorb the nutrients and in many cases, there is no nutrients left after all the processing and then sitting on the shelf.

Look for a brand that says “food-based” or 100% wholefood.  That way, you are not only getting the nutrients, but the co-factors, enzymes, bioflavonoids and other phytochemicals that help the nutrient perform its job better.

So what am I using right now? I love  MANA Blend.

Lisa Darveniza is the Creator and CEO of MANA Blend and her intent behind its creation was to bring mother earths natural healing potential to today’s world. She herself has a 20 year global background in holistic healing with extensive study in Eastern Philosophy and Masters level training in Counceling. She created this superfood blend to fix nutritional deficiencies, prevalent these days because of modern farming practices making it so hard to get nutrients from our food. Lisa’s vision was to make the highest superfoods available to people in urban areas and cities. She believes that Mother Earth has everything that we need to thrive so its just a matter or finding those things and bringing them to the people.

I feel very privileged to have been on the phone with Lisa as she spoke in depth about this product. She’s very proud to say that they haven’t compromised on quality at all. There are absolutely no fillers and no flavours in this product. Its just a high potency organic, raw blend of eleven of the most potent superfoods on the planet. It even has the potential to raise your vibrational frequencies to help fight disease.

The difference between this product and other superfoods on the market:

  • The blend is very clear in what it is asking the body to do because of the simplicity and ‘clean’ state of the blend.  It truly delivers exceptional results.  Some products on the market have so many different ingredients that the body gets confused and doesn’t know what it should do.
  • Its also very easy to absorb and the effects are much more powerful.
  • Unlike other products there its also a therapeutic dose of each of the ingredients required per day – and in fact is the only product on the market that offers this.

Mana Blend bottleI want to tell you what I learnt about MANA blend through my conversation with Lisa as I was truly astounded and inspired by what she told me. I like to know about the people behind the products and of course the research and passion behind them. I especially like to support local and ethical businesses that offer the best of the best.

So what is it.. exactly? Its a blend of 11 of the most potent superfoods on the planet. Each one coming from the most amazing sources – they are really passionate about ‘wildcrafting’ which is when something is found growing in the wild and is picked off the wild trees. An example is the cacao bean in the MANA blend. It is one of the highest quality cacao’s available. They have found these incredible wild trees that are up to 80 years old in the Amazon where the cacao pods just grow naturally. They are then picked by people on the backs of donkeys and then taken back to their production facility which grinds the beans down on their artisan equipment without denaturing the enzymes through heat treatment. It preserves the goodness of the raw bean in its purest form.

Why is WILD so special? Because for something to grow in the wild, it has to be strong. When you consume food found in the wild, you are getting the strongest constituents of that entity and you then adsorb that energy and strength into your own body. That’s why wild herbs are so popular and powerful, because of their potency.

MANA is a really energetic product.. a physical vehicle so to speak for high vibration and frequencies from mother earth’s nature codes. Something straight from pristine nature, that is completely untampered with, that’s already feigned for its healing qualities has a high energy signature. A dose of MANA should give you an energetic uplift straight after consuming it.

How to use it:

There are so many options; here are just 3 delicious and different ways you can use it

  • You can add 2 x tsp of MANA blend into Tahini which makes a really delicious chocolate mixture.
  • You can add it straight to coconut yogurt or whatever sort of yoghurt you prefer
  • My tribe loves GREEN smoothies – I say green because ours are always green. Dark green! Why? because the basis of all our smoothies is a big helping of raw, organic greens like kale or spinach mixed with filtered water. To that I add the MANA Blend and then whatever is fresh, seasonal and available in my fridge! We love to add some frozen mango cheeks and frozen strawberries in summer and in winter we mix it up with pear, banana and apples.

If you are using MANA blend already, I would love to hear what you think of it and please feel free to share any of the recipes that really work for you and your family.

Enjoy! 🙂
